The Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri gave a 48-hour ultimatum to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif to resign and further added that if the Prime Minister fails to do so, then he or his party would not be responsible for the consequences.

Dr. Tahirul Qadri said this while addressing his party workers and supporters staging a sit-in in front of the parliament building in Islamabad’s high-security ‘red zone’. In the same red zone, a similar protest is under process the by supporters of Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) who have followed their leader to Islamabad in PTI’s Azadi March. The march by both leaders started on the 14th of August and it has been 12 days since the sit-in started in the capital city of Islamabad. The sit-in includes not only men and women but also children who are steadfast in their decision to remove the Prime Minister and thus are not bothered by the hot weather, the rain or the shortage of basic necessities of life. The only chant heard thru out the speech of both leaders is ‘Go Nawaz Go’.

“Our battle for the upliftment of the poor, deprived and oppressed people and their rights is now entering the last decisive phase,” said Dr. Tahirul Qadri.  “This is my shroud I have purchased for myself in case I am martyred” he said while waving a white sheet of cloth, adding after his two day ultimatum either it I or the Nawaz government will be wrapped up in this white sheet.
