BJP MP of Pilibhit and son of Maneka and late Sanjay Gandhi ,Varun Gandhi may not have inherited the political legacy of his Gandhi-Nehru family, but his Bengali bride, Yamini Roy, will get married in a pink and gold brocade Benarasi sari that belonged to his grandmother, Indira Gandhi, on March 6. It was gift from the late Prime Minister to her daughter-in-law, Maneka, when she married her younger son Sanjay. Varun, himself will wear a dhoti and kurta, in white and gold, for the simple but traditional Hindu wedding ceremony at the Kanchi Shankarachaya’s temple on Hanuman Ghat in Varanasi. The Shankaracharya himself will preside over the wedding ceremony that will take place in the morning. Thereafter, the couple — along with their close family members — will return to Delhi by a private aircraft.
The couple will also visit Yamini’s ancestral house in Kolkata to seek the blessings of the family deity and relatives.
In April, the couple will take a two-week break to honeymoon in the scenic Amalfi coast in southern Italy.
