Detectives of the Victorian homicide squad have made a breakthrough charging 42-year-old Leslie Camilleri on account of the teenage girl who went missing 20 years ago.

Prudence bird, who was 13-years of age, went missing from her home in Glenroy on 2nd February, 1992. The report states that Prude’s lunch was on the dining table uneaten and the front door was open when her family members realized she was missing.

It took authorities 20 years of investigation to convict Camilleri with the murder of the school girl. Victoria police department gained custody of the criminal yesterday morning and held an extensive interview for further details. Camilleri was first questioned about the case two decades ago when he was initially arrested for the crime, 1992.

The teenage-girl missing case caught the attention of authorities when the mother of the missing teenage girl launched a public appeal on her 20th missing day anniversary asking people if they knew or remembered anything from the day her daughter went missing.

“An innocent little girl that someone has taken and murdered. For nothing. I hope to God the police get whoever did it. Please help. Please come forward. Someone’s got that vital bit of information that we need,” she pleaded.

Camilleri is expected to face charges of kidnapping and murdering the girl next Wednesday via video link to the Melbourne Magistrates Court.
