One of the police officers shoots a man outside the Mount Druitt Police Station in Sydney giving him a severe wound.

The man is reported to be in his 40s and was shot by the police officer as a result of confrontation around 2:30 pm Saturday. The officer shot a single fire only with the intention of wounding the man who appeared suspicious and wanted to run away.

The wounded guy was taken to the hospital immediately and is currently under observation of the senior doctors at the Westmead Hospital. His condition remains critical. As soon as the media broke the incident news, investigation teams arrived at the scenario and a special investigation team has been arranged to inquire for the matter in detail. Forensic experts were also called in for evidence collection and forensic examination. Crime scene has been marked and sealed.

Police authorities have yet not given any official statement. However, they have mentioned that they were working on criminal cases in Blackett and North St Marys in the earlier half of the day and the shooting might be linked to those investigations.

The investigation team has released a public appeal for evidence, eyewitnesses, and any other related minute detail anyone might be able to provide to help solve the case quickly.
