A man died in a car-truck accident which took place at the intersection of South Gippsland Highway and Lesdon Ave in Cranbourne a little before 11am, producing a series of accidents behind.

As per initial investigations, the truck was headed towards north side on the highway when it collided with the Ford sedan at the interaction point. The accident pushed the truck in the north east direction where it crossed the median green belt and landed on the south side of the road hitting a car which was parked on that side hitched with a boat. The boat and the car were pushed back due to the truck colliding with them and hit another car which was passing by.

Furthermore, the motor of the boat slid towards the bypassing car, crashing its passenger’s window and landing into the car but fortunately did not hit the driver. However, the driver of Ford Sedan, 70-years-old, died at the spot. The injured truck driver was immediately shifted to Dandenong Hospital for treatment.

Emergency and rescue teams arrived the scene in no time starting to work on the dead body stuck in Ford sedan to be taken out. Several eyewitnesses informed that the sedan had moved about 500 meters from the original point of collision.

Major Collision Investigation Unit also arrived and started investigation with speaking to eyewitnesses.
