After the resignation of the Greens’ party leader Bob Brown on the morning of Friday, the party has elected the MP Adam Bandt as their deputy leader on the same day.
Following the resignation of the senator Milne after the resignation of Bob Brown, Adam Bandt of the Greens has taken charge of the duty as the deputy leader of the Greens in the House of Representatives. Christine Milne, the ex-deputy leader, is now appointed as the leader of the party with Bandt as her deputy. She spoke at the event and said, “I’m really looking forward to working together with him as well as our whole party room. Adam has a tremendous grasp of the issues confronting Australia, and I know he shares my passion to start a national conversation about what an Australian society values and wants to promote as we face the challenges of the century.”
Bandt became a member of the parliament in 2010 from Melbourne and said that he was grateful for the support and the confidence of the party in him.
He said, “I look forward to working with Christine Milne in providing stable leadership in this new phase in the growth of our party. It will be a privilege and honor to work as deputy leader and support Senator Milne’s vision, integrity and experience in minority government.”
