Royal YachtThe British Education Minister, Michael Gove has proposed within a leaked letter that the Queen deserves to be given a new Royal Yacht to mark the diamond jubilee.

Mr. Gove has made the suggestion to immediately purchase the estimated £60 million yacht “in spite of the austere times” the Britain is going through. The proposal has been made to Culture Secretary, Jeremy Hunt – who is the minister overseeing the jubilee celebrations – and Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, in a confidential letter revealed by a newspaper.

Mr. Gove is of the view that the Queen should be presented with more than the only momentary events planned for her “highly significant contribution”.  He has written in the letter that the event should be extraordinary than the previous ones and to give the Queen the tribute for her remarkable contributions towards the nation and the Commonwealth. This would be regarded as “a gift from the nation to her majesty to commemorate this momentous occasion”.

Mr. Gove has also put forth the suggestion at the end of the letter that if not enough taxpayer funds were available to make the purchase then a private donation could be sought.

According to the reports generated by Guardian, many others including the Coalition partners the Liberal Democrats are not much enthusiastic about this project and expressing their surprise on the proposal.

Labour party deputy chairman, Tom Watson has shown his concern about the slashing of the school budgets and said that the parents will be wondering over this idea of Mr. Gove.
