The creation of the latest Queen’s royal wax figure for London tourist attraction Madame Tussauds was unveiled in London this morning following a £150,000 makeover.

Capturing The Queen’s exact facial expressions proved to be a challenging task for sculptor, Steve Swales as he has told: “It’s quite difficult because when you’re sculpting something you have the main features, the eyes, nose, mouth. And you can say they’re difficult but really the difficult thing is linking them all together. The bits in between I think are the hardest to do.”

A dedicated team of 20 people has been led by the sculptor for more than four months to create the new figure, costing a figure of 150,000 pounds to get created, a partial Elizabeth’s diamond jubilee celebrations according to theMadame Tussauds’ plans this year.

The monarch was dressed in a white and silver lace dress, embroidered with 53,000 Swarovski crystals, and a blue silk sash. The wax figure of the queen is a commanding presence, regardless of the close competition it has to face from pop stars Rihanna and Lady Gaga in the same room. The makeover was carried out especially to mark the monarch’s 60 years on the throne. While the 86-year-old monarch did not sit for the recreation she did send over her measurements and approvals for different aspects of the sculpture to get finished.

But the sharp observers have closely analysed and suggested that the new statue, which will be the Queen’s 23rd likeness at the world-famous waxwork museum, contains more than the monarch has in real life.
