British Airways’ jumbo jet flight has made an emergency landing at Cardiff Airport after Mayday alert was issued during its transatlantic 747 flight.
According to the Wales Air Network, BA flight 196 which was scheduled for Heathrow from Houston has been diverted to the South Wales airport after instrument problems were developed.
The Boeing 747 airplane was carrying 138 passengers, landed safely at 10:43a.m.
BA spokesperson has said: “As a precaution, the Captain of the flight from Houston to Heathrow, decided to divert to Cardiff after indications of a potential technical problem.
“The flight landed normally and engineers at Cardiff are now assessing the aircraft.
“We apologise to customers for the delay to their journey.”
South Wales Fire and Rescue spokesperson has said: “We attended the incident, but the aircraft landed safely.”
The airline has further revealed that the plane would be able to complete its journey to London later on Monday afternoon.
