Former advisor to PM, Andy CoulsonU.K. Prime Minister, David Cameron’s former chief adviser Andy Coulson has claimed that the mayor of London, Boris Johnson is hoping to see Mr. Cameron “fails miserably” at the next general election, before attempting to become Tory party leader.

Mr. Coulson, who is currently awaiting a corruption trial, has said that Mr. Johnson is looking to take over as Prime Minister after a Tory election disaster in 2015.

In response to Ex-advisor’s claim, Mr. Johnson has declared his full backing for the Prime Minister in advance of a speech at the Global University Summit.

The London Mayor has said to be becoming only “increasingly confident” that Mr. Cameron will win the next election and said: “I’m grateful to Andy Coulson for his impeccable career advice but I’m backing David Cameron, who I’m absolutely increasingly confident is going to win.”

He has added: “Of course I’m backing David Cameron all the way.”

Mr. Coulson, who resigned as the Prime Minister’s head of communications in early 2011 after being found to be involved in the phone hacking scandal, has said that Mr. Cameron had predicted five years ago in a light way that Mr. Johnson is very ambitious to be the Tory leader.

Mr. Johnson’s second term as London mayor will end by 2016.

Recently in an interview, when Mr. Johnson was asked if he wanted to become prime minister. He has replied: “If the ball came loose from the back of the scrum, which it won’t of course, it would be a great, great thing to have a crack at.”

Mr. Coulson has told in his article that “when Boris asked me to pass on the message that he was keen to stand as mayor of London (in 2007), David [Cameron] responded, ‘Well, if he wins, he’ll want my job next’.
