Prince Harry at the official launch of the Invictus GamesPrince Harry has launched the Invictus Games for wounded servicemen and women at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in east London on Wednesday.

The organiser of the games, Price Harry has praised the injured, wounded and sick servicemen and women, gathered from all around the world for their stories that “move, inspire and humble” at the opening night.

The night started with a rousing military-themed ceremony to launch an inspirational sporting event that will see competitors from 13 countries participating over the span of four days in a range of challenging events.

The Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke of Cambridge attended the opening ceremony, with a crowd of 6,500 spectators.

Prince Harry, who was introduced by U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama, has termed the games as a life-changing event.

Prince Harry had worked hard for months to bring a larger event to the U.K. after an inspiration from the U.S. Warrior Games.

He has told the audience: “No longer are these inspirational men and women defined by their injury but as athletes, competitors and team mates.

“Over the next four days we will see some truly remarkable achievements. For some of those taking part, this will be a stepping stone to elite sport but for others it will mark the end of a chapter in their recovery, and the beginning of a new one.”

Prince Harry has ended address with the passionate words: “Finally, I would like to thank you for the tremendous example you set. Your stories move, inspire and humble us. You prove that anything is possible, if you have the will.”
