Suspect John BurnhamPolice have launched manhunt after an elderly pensioner was repeatedly beaten with a cricket bat at his home in Hackney.

The 84-year-old man was attacked in his house on Lindisfarne Way in Hackney, east London, on Halloween – 31 October, that led to him being hospitalised.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police has stated: “The 84-year-old victim was hit a number of times with a cricket bat.

“He was taken by London Ambulance Service to an east London hospital. He remains in hospital but will hopefully be discharged soon.”

The Met Police are now appealing for information to trace 44-year-old John Burnham in connection with the attack.

Burnham, who has no fixed address, is described as white and around 6ft tall.

Members of the public have been advised not to approach the suspect, and to dial 999 if they see him.
