Family of recently deceased officer, 34-year-old PC Dave Phillips, has said that he was “stolen from us and two girls are left without a daddy” after he was struck by a car and killed during a pursuit. Phillips was hit by a pick-up vehicle that mounted a central reservation in Wallasey in in Merseyside on Monday. He has left behind a widow, Jen, and two daughters, 7-year-old Abigail and 3-year-old Sophie.
Police has arrested two men aged 18 and 30 on suspicion of murder. Whereas, three women aged 19, 34, and 59, along with another 39-year-old man, are also in police custody on suspicion of assisting an offender. During a press conference organised by Merseyside Police, Phillip’s sisters, Hannah Whieldon and Kate Phillips, paid tribute to the officer as Hannah stated that “he was stolen from us but, by God, what was stolen from him? Two girls have been left without a.”
The family remembered that a short while before he was hit by the truck, Phillips was spending time with his wife and filming their girls “beaming” with smiles, singing and dancing. Hanna Wheildon stated that “but beyond all our combined grief – which, believe me, makes it hard to breathe – is that of his beautiful wife, Jen.” Talking about Phillip’s widow, Hannah alleged that “she’s only 28. It’s her birthday next month. She won’t be a pampered wife, getting breakfast in bed – she will be a grieving widow.”
