Islamic Mosque target of hate crime, Port Coquitlam BC

This afternoon Coquitlam RCMP received a report of a spray-painted racial slur to a local area Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre in Port Coquitlam. Police attended the location and are conducting an investigation in consultation with the BC Hate Crime Team.

“Any graffiti can have a negative impact on how safe people feel in their neighbourhood and it’s much more disturbing when the graffiti is a racial slur,” said Cst, Kristina Biro, media relations officer. “We encourage anyone that sees criminal or suspicious activity to report it to police.”
