A Moncton man has been charged following a province-wide, multi-agency investigation into the distribution of child sexual abuse images.
51-year-old Douglas Hugh Stewart appeared in Moncton Provincial Court this morning and has been charged with one count of possession of child pornography. He is scheduled to appear again in court next on Monday, March 28, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. for a bail hearing.
On March 23, 2011, police conducted searches in Moncton, Havelock, Grand-Bay-Westfield, Dumfries and Petit-Rocher-Ouest. In one instance alone, millions of images of child sexual abuse were seized. A 45-year-old man, 49 year-old-man and a youth under 18 were also arrested. All three were released on strict conditions and will appear in court at a later date.
The investigation is ongoing.
