On Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at approximately 1:34 p.m., officers responded to an address on Longford Drive, for a report of a physical altercation.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 43 year-old female, with life threatening injuries and obvious signs of trauma. The female was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The Peel Regional Police Homicide Bureau has taken control of the investigation.

The victim has since been identified as Maria Rosario AVIDAGO, a 43 year-old female from Mississauga.

Her husband, Victor AVIDAGO, a 46 year-old male from Mississauga, has been charged with Second Degree Murder. He will be making a brief court appearance on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, where he will be remanded back into custody.

A post mortem is scheduled for Thursday, March 24, 2011.
