Edmonton Police Service Serious Crimes Branch detectives have charged a 46-year-old man in connection with three separate sexual assault cases following a two year investigation.

Investigators have determined that on separate occasions between January 2009 and March 2011 three women ranging in age from 18 – 22 were allegedly sexually assaulted after responding to job ads for an administrative assistant on a social networking site and a local newspaper classified section.

The accused then arranged meetings at his home office in the area of 114 Avenue and 105 Street. Once inside the residence the women were allegedly sexually assaulted.

Charged with three counts of sexual assault is Merik Stanley Bereznicki.

“This arrest was the culmination of solid investigative work and the strength and courage of the victims to come forward,” says Staff Sergeant Debbie Jolly of the Sexual Assault Section.
