Body of Ottawa man Michael Pineau found in Rideau River

The Ottawa Police Service has identified the body found in the Ottawa River on May 12th as Michael Pineau.

Michael went missing on March 15th 

The Pineau family does not wish to speak to members of the media at this time and are asking media to respect their wishes. John and Elizabeth Pineau have released the following public statement:

“Our Family is devastated. We have lost an amazing, talented, extremely generous and intelligent son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin. Mike was truly the salt of the Earth. We have had overwhelming support from our family and friends in Mattawa, Ottawa, North Bay and across the country. The Ottawa Police have been helpful and knowledgeable throughout this most difficult time. A memorial service for Mike will be held in Mattawa sometime during the month of June. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the other missing persons.”
