Prowlers Arrested and Handgun Seized in Ajax

West Division officers responded to a prowler call last night in residential Ajax, arrested two males and seized a loaded handgun.

On Monday May 30, 2011 at approximately 11:55 p.m. officers from West Division responded to a residence on Hibbard Drive in Ajax following a 9-1-1 call from a homeowner indicating three males were observed prowling around in a backyard nearby with flashlights. Officers arrived at the scene and searched the area.

Approximately 45 minutes later, officers in the vicinity observed suspicious activity with two male suspects in a taxi cab and conducted a traffic stop to investigate further. One of the two male occupants in the cab fled immediately upon police arrival but was apprehended by officers following a brief foot pursuit. The second suspect was arrested without incident in possession of a loaded restricted handgun inside the taxi.

Sandy AKO, age 18 of Mascot Place in Toronto is charged with eight firearm-related offences and was held for a bail hearing.

Andre DUNROD, age 18 of Jane Street in Brock is charged with six firearm-related offences and was held for a bail hearing.

The third male suspect is described as: male, black.
