The Calgary Police Service Targeted Enforcement Unit (TEU) and the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) have charged two men as the result of a two-month organized crime investigation.

In April 2011, CPS received information about organized crime activity in Calgary.

During the course of the investigation, officers learned of an alleged plot to kidnap and possibly kill an individual.

The alleged victim was not aware of this plan until briefed by police. He is not believed to be involved in criminal activity, but is known to the two suspects.

One of the suspects is associated with a business that was recently the target of an alleged arson.

Investigators have determined that the intended victim may have been targeted as an act of revenge, because he was believed to have been involved in the arson. At this point, investigators do not believe the intended victim was involved in the incident.

On Tuesday, June 7, 2011, two Irricana men were arrested separately in Calgary without incident.

Luciano FERRAZANO, also known as Lucas FERBER, 39, and Ronald William WEITING, 50, have both been charged with Conspiracy to Commit Kidnapping, Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault and Conspiracy to Commit Murder.
