On June 16, 2011, the RCMP Commercial Crime Section in New Brunswick, in conjunction with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), seized $1.5 million worth of fraudulent Canadian bank drafts following the execution of a search warrant in southeastern New Brunswick.

Insp. Lise Roussel of the RCMP’s Commercial Crime Section credits the CBSA for their expedient intelligence sharing which allowed for this seizure of these fraudulent documents in New Brunswick. Charges of possession of property obtained by crime and possession of fraudulent document are pending against a woman from the southeastern part of New Brunswick.

The RCMP reminds people to be vigilant when approached with offers that are ‘too good to be true’, especially offers of employment, advance fee transactions and marketing offers (many of which are conducted over the Internet).
