Two Toronto men charged with debit and credit card fraud, Moncton, N.B

On June 17, 2011, two Toronto area men appeared for a bail hearing in Moncton Provincial Court for charges related to credit and debit card frauds.

34-year-old Vaneesan Thangavelautham and 34-year-old Manothkumar Selvarasa, both of Toronto, ON, were arrested on June 14, 2011.

Their vehicle was intercepted by Codiac Regional RCMP after they attempted to buy visa gift cards at a Shoppers Drug Mart location. The men had been in the store several times the previous day.

At the time of their arrests, police seized a bag of debit cards, prepaid Visa and gift cards, a variety of electronic equipment and a quantity of cash.

Both were granted bail, and remain in custody until the money is received. Both men are charged with fraud. Vaneesan Thangavelautham is also charged with breach of conditions. They are scheduled to appear in court next on August 5, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. to enter a plea.

It’s believed these individuals made purchases at various Shoppers Drug Mart and Walmart stores in the Greater Moncton area.
