Quentin Pierre Mason (b/m, DOB:2-4-89) is charged is with murder and aggravated robbery in the 179th State District Court. Amanda Salinas (H/f, DOB: 6-28-91) is charged with aggravated robbery and injury to the elderly, also in the 179th State District Court. Photos of the suspects are attached to this news release.

Both suspects are accused in the death of James Mundo, 70, of Houston, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Divison Sergeant T. Biggs, R. Blain, Senior Police Officer J. Robles and Officer M. Condon reported:

Mr. Mundo was driving his van eastbound on Harwin and stopped at the red light at Boone Road when a witness heard an argument between a female and males from inside the van. A female, later identified as suspect Salinas, and a black male, later identified as suspect Mason, were then seen running from the van. The van then drove several hundred yards and crashed through a metal fence at an apartment complex. Mundo was found with at least one stab wound to the right leg and died at the scene.

Further investigation determined Mundo, an air conditioning repairman, was alone in his van and driving to another job location. When he stopped at the red light on Harwin and Boone Road, Salinas and Mason jumped into Mundo’s van and attempted to rob him. During the robbery, Mundo was stabbed and the suspects then fled on foot.

On Saturday (June 18), HPD Westside Tactical officers were investigating a series of robberies that had occured in the area. During the robbery investigations, it was discovered that the suspects were also involved in the death of Mundo. Both suspects were arrested and confessed to their roles in the incident.
