Late in the afternoon on June 23, 2011, District 2 Oromocto RCMP recovered a human body from the St. John River in the Gagetown, N.B. area.

The RCMP responded to the scene after a person fishing in the area notified police of the discovery at around 3 p.m. Police have confirmed the body discovered is that of Roy Gallagher who went missing in the St. John River in May.

Police and other emergency crews, along with volunteers, had been searching various sections of the St. John River at various times over the past month for the 27-year-old man from the St. Mary’s First Nation. Mr. Gallagher went missing when a boat he was on sank on May 16 just west of Fredericton.
