The London Police Service received information regarding a sexual assault investigation from the Kingston Police Service. Kingston Police were notified in December 2010 that a 17-year-old female was allegedly sexually assaulted during a trip to Kenya as a part of a youth-oriented community program. The alleged offence took place while in Kenya during the summer of 2007.
As a result of the investigation, 57-year-old William Mates, a resident of the Tillsonburg area is charged with Sexual Exploitation.
The name of the youth-related program is not being released as this information may identify the victim.
