Body of Margarita Shumakova found in Uxbridge

Major Crime detectives and forensic investigators are continuing the investigation into the discovery of a deceased person on the 8th Concession of Uxbridge on Friday night and can confirm this is the 2nd homicide of 2011 in the Region of Durham.

A tentative identification has been made of the deceased and her family members have been advised. Further forensic testing is being completed. At this time the deceased is believed to be 18-year-old Margarita SHUMAKOVA of Toronto.

Anyone who may have seen Margarita or was with her on Saturday July 2 or Sunday July 3, 2011, is asked to contact Det. Terry Haight (ext. 5247) or Det. Tom Dingwall (ext. 5319) of the DRPS Major Crime Homicide Unit at 1-888-579-1520.
