On July 6th around 5 p.m. Richmond RCMP attended to the Sea Island Coast Guard Station in the 2900 block of Steveston Highway for a report that a body had been located in the Fraser River.

The body appears to be that of a female approximately 20 – 30 years of age.

The coroner attended the scene & ruled out foul play as there are no obvious signs of trauma. An autopsy was conducted along with dental record comparisons in order to determine the cause of death & make a positive identification. The results are not known at this time.

A fanout has been sent across the Lower Mainland advising the surrounding police jurisdictions of this event.
