A St. Stephen man has appeared in St. Stephen Provincial Court charged with attempted murder.

On the evening of July 14, 2011, St. Stephen RCMP were called to a residence on Pleasant Street in St. Stephen where a man had been stabbed. The 49-year-old man was taken to the hospital in Saint John where he remains in stable condition. A man was subsequently arrested in connection with the incidence.

This afternoon, 60-year-old Franklin Timothy Leavitt of St. Stephen appeared in court charged with attempted murder. He remains in custody. He is scheduled to appear in court in St. Stephen on July 18, 2011.
