The Kamloops RCMP is seeking public assistance in locating and verifying the well being of 17-year-old Darren Jansen who left his north shore home on April 6th with a back pack containing personal items, clothing and approximately $300 dollars in cash.

Jansen is described as Metis, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, with brown hair, and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing jeans, a light blue hat, a black jacket with red and white patches. Jansen has a history of leaving home but has never been gone for this long in the past. Since he departed the Kamloops area, there have been occasional text and face book messages purportedly sent by him to friends and family. Third hand information provided to police on July 2nd indicated that Jansen had allegedly sent a message that he was alright while playing an on-line game of XBOX.

Police have been unable to factually verify these reports. Information gathered during the police investigation suggests that Jansen is not missing but is being purposely recluse in his attempts to avoid contact with authorities. Investigators believe that Jansen may have sought refuge with associates in the Caribou area.

Jansen’s mother has not heard from her son since he left and understandably wants to ensure first hand that his health and welfare needs are being properly met. Any information regarding the location of 17-year-old Darren Jansen can be provided to the police agency in your jurisdiction or to Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477)
