At the request of the Vancouver Police Department, the RCMP’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has agreed to investigate a fatal police-involved shooting that occurred in the 300 block Powell Street on the evening of July 22nd.
At 8:33 p.m., Vancouver Police officers encountered a man walking on the sidewalk armed with a machete. Officers confronted the man and he was shot a short time later. The man died at the scene.
Investigators from IHIT are enroute to the scene and will be conducting the investigation.
