Three arrested for Bell store hold up in Aurora

Members working out of the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit have charged two adult men and one male youth in connection with a shooting incident in the Town of Aurora.

On Thursday, July 22, 2011, at approximately 8:35 p.m., Uniform Patrol officers and investigators working out of the Hold-Up Unit responded to a robbery in progress at the Bell Store located at 91 First Commerce Drive in the Town of Aurora. Upon arrival, officers confronted three suspects and were attempting to arrest them when an altercation ensued.

One suspect and one police officer, a member of the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit, were transported to hospital with injuries as a result of a gunshot wound. The injured suspect remains in hospital and the Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding his injuries. All three suspects were arrested at the time of the incident.

Ryan Michael Patrick BERMENT, 18, of Pickering
Michael Kevin WHITLOCK, 24, of Pickering
A 17-year-old male youth, of Pickering

CHARGES:
Robbery – Use a Firearm
Disguise With Intent
Forcible Confinement
Possession of Weapons Dangerous
Theft Over $5,000
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
Over $5,000

Mr. BERMENT is additionally charged with Assault Peace Officer, Possession of Firearm or Weapon and Carry a Concealed Weapon.
