Police arrest four men for drug trafficking in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia

On Tuesday, August 2, 2011, members of the Nova Scotia RCMP Federal Drug Section with assistance from the South Shore Integrated Crime Enforcement Unit (Lunenburg and Queen’s County RCMP and Bridgewater Police Service) as well as uniformed members from Bridgewater Police Services and Lunenburg County RCMP, arrested four individuals following a three-week undercover investigation into the street-level drug trade of cocaine and marihuana.

The following individuals have been charged:

Graham Jarad Carr, 1987-09-03, Bridgewater, NS
• 5.1 CDSA Trafficking (2 counts)
Matthew Manual Faustino, 1987-03-25, Bridgewater, NS
• 5.1 CDSA Trafficking (2 counts)
• 4.1 Possession (1 count)
Gary Harold Bushen, 1949-06-07, Pinehurst, NS
• 5.1 CDSA Trafficking (2 counts)
• 4.1 Possession (1 count)
Alan Stephen Rankin, 1980-09-24, Bridgewater, NS
• 5.1 CDSA Trafficking (2 counts)

“This is good news for the Bridgewater community,” says S/Sgt. Roddie Macdonald, Nova Scotia RCMP Drug Coordinator. “We know that drugs fuel a significant amount of crime in Nova Scotia and are confident that these arrests will have a direct impact on crime and access to illegal drugs in Bridgewater. Through the combined efforts of our RCMP Federal Drug Unit with assistance from the South Shore Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit, we were able to reach a successful outcome.”

Carr, Faustino and Bushen were released with conditions, and Rankin remains in custody on a previous and unrelated charge of Assault with a Weapon. All four will appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court Nov. 2, 2011.

Police received numerous tips from the public that assisted in this investigation.
