Hamilton man arrested after stabbing on a balcony

The Hamilton Police Service has arrested and charged a Hamilton man after responding to a stabbing incident that just occurred at an East End apartment complex.

On Thursday August 4th, 2011 at approximately 1:30 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to a stabbing incident that just occurred at an apartment complex located at 11 Grandville Ave. Witnesses reported to police that the victim and the suspect had been fighting on the balcony at the apartment.

Responding officers located the 34 yr. old victim lying on the ground floor balcony in one of the units. He had been stabbed in the face and neck area. He was taken to hospital in critical condition. His injuries have been upgraded to serious but non-life threatening.

The suspect involved was located walking in the area not far from the scene of the stabbing. He was arrested without incident.

The suspect and the victim are known to each other.

Charges: Aggravated Assault
Assault with a Weapon
Breach of Probation
