On August 5, 2011, 63-year-old Thomas Maher, of Moncton, appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual interference.
The charges are in relation to alleged incidents involving two minors, which would have occurred between March and August 2011. Both of the alleged victims are under the age of 12. Maher is of no relation to them.
Maher was arrested on August 4, after police received a complaint from the family of one of the victims on August 3.
He will remain in police custody until a bail hearing, scheduled for the afternoon of Monday, August 8, 2011.
