The Calgary Police Service has charged a local man who fled from police.

Ryan William WITVOET, 27, faces 18 charges in connection with an incident on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, where he allegedly evaded police and drove dangerously around several parts of north Calgary, including on 16 Avenue, until being stopped near University Drive N.W.

WITVOET is facing the following charges:

dangerous driving
flight from a peace officer
possession of stolen property over $5,000
possession of stolen property under $5,000
possession of weapon dangerous to the public peace x 2
breach of recognizance x 12

WITVOET is scheduled to appear in Calgary Provincial Court on Monday, Aug. 15, 2011.
