District 5 RCMP are investigating the discovery of skeletal remains in the Nelson area.

The RCMP received a call on August 16, 2011, just before 3:30 p.m. that the remains had been discovered off the Weldfield Collette Road. The family of 74-year-old Charles Doyle, who went missing on September 26, 2010 had been conducting a search in the area when they found the remains. The police have not been able to determine the identity at this time.

The RCMP’s Forensic Identification Section and a forensic anthropologist have been brought in to assist with the investigation to help determine the identity and what took place.
