The Boston Fire Department has reported that 40 people have been displaced owing to a fire that erupted at 2.30 am at 90 Westland Ave, a building near Northeastern University. Most of the displaced people are college students who were residing in those apartments. However, no injuries and casualties have been reported till now.

Spokesman Steve MacDonald told the media that the cause of the fire and the focal point of the fire could not be located as yet. However, the fire was successfully distinguished in less than an hour by 75 firefighters.  When asked whether the inhabitants would be able to move in or not, MacDonald said “It all depends on the property owners, their dealings with insurance companies, and the scope of the damage. It could be months. It’s hard to say right now. It’s too early to tell.”

Most of the residents of the burnt building, commonly known as Cappy’s Corner were students enrolled in Northeastern, Wentworth Institute of Technology and Berkley College of Music. Students were not only forced to spend the night on the sidewalks but were also seen stuffing their bags with their belongings, this morning when the firefighters allowed them briefly to collect their personal items.

The students of the building are now left homeless and are seeking temporary housing from their respective universities and colleges. The question now is how long the property owners would take in restoring the building infrastructure and whether their respective colleges would provide them temporary housing, or not.
