Antonio Smith’s Labor Day weekend party resulted in the drowning of Smith’s personal friend, Engram Lamar Crenshaw, 37 who belonged to Katy. He was found dead in the swimming pool behind Smith’s house. Till now, the police and paramedics have confirmed that there have been no signs of foul play,
Fort Bend County Sheriff Capt. James Burger has said on record that “"He was not dressed to be swimming in the pool; I can say that," Crenshaw is also reported to be a close friend of the NFL player. However, according to the sheriff’s spokesman Bob Haenel an autopsy has been ordered and the results would be available within three working days.
Smith’s party hosted a crowd of 100 people excluding Houston coaches and other staff members. Witnesses have reported that Crenshaw stayed out by himself and was last seen by the pool at 2.00 am in the morning. The police were called in to the premises at 9.30 am in the morning to retrieve the dead body.
Smith would begin his third season with the Texans on September 11 against the Indianapolis Colts. Prior to that he played with the Arizona Cardinals. The team in their statement regarding this accident has said ‘We’re aware of the situation. We’re gathering facts and will have no further comment at this time.’
