Terror plot convict Jose Padilla’s 17 year jail verdict has been overruled by the US court.
The Case has been sent back for review and a new hearing will be held. A Panel of three Judges on the 11th U.S Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday said that the sentence which was imposed by a Miami federal judge was too merciful.
After a three-month long trial Jose Padilla and two other fellow conspirators were convicted for providing assistance to terrorists in 2007. It is reported that the accused sent money, recruits and supplies to extremist groups involved in terrorist activities.
In 2002 Jose Padilla was taken into custody at the Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. He was suspected for plotting of a radioactive “Dirty bomb”.
Padilla was in custody for three and a half years as an enemy without an unlawful charge.
