American rapper Soulja Boy was detained by police authorities on charges of possessing drugs and weapons on Tuesday after a routine traffic stop.

Soulja Boy originally named DeAndre Cortez Way alongside four other members riding a Cadillac Escalade were stopped by the police official in Temple Georgia on Interstate 20 near the Alabama line.

 Police spokeswoman Dana Rampy told the reporters that they found marijuana, pistols and cash inside the car after a “routine traffic stop.

Rapper Soulja boy was in company of three bodyguards and a driver. All of whom were arrested on felony charges of possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm.

A puppy found in the car has been turned over to relatives of the driver, Dana Rampy said.

Soulja Boy first gained fame with online postings of his songs and his “Crank That” dance demonstration.

Last month, he apologized for lyrics in a song called “Let’s Be Real” that offended some U.S. Army soldiers. The video of the song was posted online and brought a strong reaction from FBI and U.S army, as they were offending and said in a bad taste.
