Officers with the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit are investigating a sexual assault that took place early Monday morning in Halifax.

At approximately 5:15 p.m. yesterday, officers responded to a report of a sexual assault that had occurred at approximately 4 a.m. A 21-year-old woman reported that she was walking south on Queen Street when she observed a man walking behind her. The man followed her into her apartment building and got on the elevator with her. When the elevator stopped at the floor the man had identified as his, he turned to the woman and touched her inappropriately. The man got off the elevator and the woman, who hadn’t selected a floor, was able to continue on to her apartment. The suspect is described as a white man, 25 to 30-years-old, 5’5”, with a medium build and short blonde/brown hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a green plaid shirt and jeans.
