Toronto bound flight diverted to Winnipeg drunken passenger arrested

On October 25th, 2011, at approximately 7:15 p.m., a Commercial Airline, with 148 passengers on board, was en-route from Edmonton, Alberta to Toronto, Ontario when a male passenger became unruly.
 
The investigation has revealed that the male appeared intoxicated, and refused direction from crew members. He subsequently attempted to light a cigarette while on board when a female crew member attempted to intervene. His aggressive and belligerent behaviour continued at which time the cabin crew restrained the male to ensure the safety of everyone on board.
 
As a result of the incident, the Commercial Airline elected to divert to the Winnipeg James Richardson International Airport.
 
Upon landing, members of the Winnipeg Police Service met with crew members and placed the male under arrest.
 
Byron PINKSEN, 41 years of Grand PrairieAlbertahas been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement:
 
·        Damaging or interfering with navigation facility
·        Cause Disturbance
·        Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
·        Mischief Endangering Life
·        Interference with crew member
·        Consuming liquor other than provided by aircraft operator
 
He was detained.
