Drunken driver Ryan Thomas Kramer kills two in Calgary

On November 6, 2011 at approximately 0137 hours a fatal collision occurred at the intersection of McKnight Boulevard and Deerfoot Trail N.E.

A 27 year old male was operating a 1995 Dodge Avenger westbound on McKnight Boulevard. A 24 year old female was a passenger in this vehicle. The Dodge Avenger stopped at the intersection which allows for eastbound traffic on McKnight Boulevard to turn northbound onto Deerfoot Trail N.E.

A 23 year old male was operating a 1998 Lexus GS300 westbound on McKnight Boulevard at a high rate of speed. A 24 year old male was a passenger in this vehicle. The Lexus drove into the back of the stopped Dodge Avenger. The Dodge Avenger was driven forward 51 meters as a result of the impact. The Lexus came to final rest 86 meters west of the area of impact. Both vehicles received extensive damage.

The two occupants of the Dodge Avenger received fatal injuries as a result of this collision. The operator of the Lexus was uninjured and was charged with impaired driving causing death as well as dangerous driving causing death. The passenger of the Lexus received minor injuries as a result of the collision.

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section is investigating the incident.

Speed and alcohol were factors in this collision.

Update:

Charges have now been laid in relation to the double fatal motor vehicle collision at McKnight Boulevard and Deerfoot Trail.

Ryan Thomas KRAMER, aged 23, is charged with two counts each of Impaired Driving Causing Death, Driving Over .08 Causing Death and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death.
