The District 1 RCMP has released the name of a man who died as a result of a boating incident over the weekend. He has been identified as 45-year-old Norman Nathan Parker, of Back Bay, N.B.

An autopsy was performed on November 20 and confirmed that Mr. Parker died as a result of drowning.

It’s believed the man and his 10-year-old son were forced to abandon their boat after suffering engine problems. Only the boy was able to make it to shore safely.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, but police say it appears to have been accidental.
