Newmarket teen dies in a fatal pedestrian collision

The York Regional Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues their investigation after a pedestrian succumbed to his injuries following a motor vehicle collision in the Town of East Gwillimbury.

On Friday, December 16, 2011, at approximately 5:20 p.m., police were called to Queensville Side Road west of 2nd Concession Road. Investigators have determined that an 18-year-old Newmarket man was on the north side of Queensville Side Road attempting to retrieve a dog from the roadway when he was struck by a 2007, four-door Toyota Corolla travelling westbound.

The driver of the Corolla, a 29-year-old female from Bradford, was not injured and will not be charged.

Sadly, on Wednesday, December 21, 2011, the 18-year-old Newmarket man succumbed to his injuries. York Regional Police would like to offer it’s deepest condolences to his family during this difficult time.
