64-year-old Sanford man dies in a head-on collision south of Winnipeg

A senior citizen died in a two-vehicle head-on collision south of Winnipeg on Wednesday. The tragic incident took place around 3 a.m. on Highway 3, near the community of Sanford.

Headingley RCMP and other local emergency responders rushed to the scene.

According to RCMP, a 64-year-old man was the only occupant of the truck that collided with another vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to RCMP, the deceased was a resident of Sanford. His identity was not disclosed.

In the other vehicle, all three occupants were seriously injured. They were sent to hospital in emergency.

The highway was closed for quite a few hours and reopened to traffic at around 7 a.m.

RCMP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
