Colchester man dies after getting struck by a tree

A 57-year-old Colchester man has died after he was struck by a tree he was cutting down earlier today at a work site.

At approximately 11:00 a.m. this morning, Colchester RCMP were called to a sudden death in a wooded area on Riverside Road in Green Oaks, Colchester County. The investigation revealed that the victim died at the scene when a tree he was cutting down kicked back and struck him in the chest. The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of the next of kin.

The RCMP has turned over the investigation to the Department of Labour, Occupational Health and Safety Division.
