Elderly Newmarket town pedestrian dies in a fatal road collision

Investigators with the York Regional Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are seeking public assistance regarding a pedestrian collision in the Town of Georgina.

On Sunday, January 22, 2012, at approximately 7:55 p.m., police were called to Dalton Road near Woodriver Bend. Investigators with the Collision Reconstruction Unit attended the scene and determined a pedestrian was crossing Dalton Road when he was struck by a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu travelling northbound.

The pedestrian, an 81-year-old man from the Town of Newmarket, was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the Malibu, an 88-year-old man from the Town of Georgina, was not injured.

Officers with the Collision Reconstruction Unit are actively investigating this case
