Toronto man Richard Nkabu charged with three counts of bribery

Officers from 12 Division started an investigation at De Blue Note Lounge, at 1709 Jane Street, acting on community complaints regarding this address being a possible illegal drinking club.

It is alleged that:

– during the investigation, the owner of De Blue Note Lounge approached a police officer with an offer of cash payment to curtail any further police attention to the bar

– the owner paid the officer $500

Richard Nkabu, 41, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1. three counts of Bribery
2. Attempt to Obstruct Justice

He is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue Avenue West on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, room 202F, 1:30 p.m.
