Investigators from the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau have made a second arrest in the Region’s sixth murder of 2011.

This murder occurred on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at approximately 2:50 p.m., when the victim, 28 year-old Kearn Nedd, was shot and killed trying to assist in apprehending one of two suspects committing an Armed Robbery at a poker tournament. The event, held at the Rozz Banquet Hall located at 200 Advance Boulevard in Brampton was suddenly and tragically interrupted by this brazen act, which occurred in broad daylight in front of over 130 people.

Since that time, investigators have worked persistently to track down those responsible for this murder. Today, Peel Homicide Inspector George Koekkoek announced the charging of a 15 year old youth with Second Degree Murder in Mr. Nedd’s death. This youth, currently in custody on unrelated matters, and who was 14 years old at the time of the offence, is to be brought before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton today for a first appearance. Due to the age of the youth, the name cannot be released as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Arrested and charged last week with Accessory After the Fact to Murder in connection with this case was 30 year old Samir Abdelgadir. This charge relates to a cache of firearms that were seized by police during a search warrant executed on an apartment at Living Arts Drive in Mississauga. Through forensic analysis, one of the firearms located in this search was determined to be the murder weapon.

This investigation is ongoing and investigators believe there are others with varying levels of involvement that will be identified and also be brought to justice.
